We take your privacy seriously - no corporate nonsense here
Last Updated: October 31, 2025
Look, we're mechanics, not data brokers. When you trust us with your European ride, we're gonna protect your personal info just like we protect your engine from bad fuel.
This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our shop or website, how we use it, and what rights you've got. We're based in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, so we follow Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA) and also respect international standards like GDPR for our overseas clients.
Bottom line? Your data stays with us unless you tell us otherwise or the law requires it. We don't sell your email to spammers, and we're not tracking you across the internet like some creepy stalker.
Personal Details: When you book an appointment or drop off your BMW, Audi, or Mercedes, we'll need your name, phone number, email, and address. Pretty standard stuff - can't exactly call you about your car without a phone number, right?
Vehicle Information: VIN, make, model, year, mileage, service history. This is the important stuff that helps us diagnose issues and keep track of what we've done to your vehicle over time.
Payment Info: Credit card details are processed through secure payment processors. We don't store full card numbers on our systems - that's just asking for trouble.
Website Data: If you're browsing our site, we collect basic stuff like IP addresses, browser type, pages visited. Nothing invasive, just helps us see what's working and what ain't.
Communications: Emails, texts, phone calls - we keep records so if you ask us something about your service three months ago, we can actually remember the conversation.
We're not complicated here. Your info gets used for:
We might send you occasional emails about seasonal services or special offers, but you can opt out anytime. We're not gonna spam you - got better things to do like fixing cars.
We don't just hand out your info to anyone who asks. Here's who might see it:
Parts Suppliers: Sometimes we need to order specific parts and might share vehicle details to get the right components. They don't get your personal contact info though.
Payment Processors: Companies like Stripe or Square that handle credit card transactions securely. They've got their own strict privacy policies.
Service Providers: Our booking system, email platform, accounting software - the tools we use to run the shop. They're all under contract to keep your data safe.
Insurance Companies: Only if you're filing a claim and authorize us to communicate with them.
Legal Requirements: If a court orders us or law enforcement has a valid warrant, we gotta comply. That's the law.
Business Transfers: If we ever sold the shop (not planning on it), your service records would transfer to keep continuity of care for your vehicle.
We take security seriously - maybe not Fort Knox level, but pretty darn close for a repair shop.
Is it perfect? Nothing is. But we're doing everything reasonable to keep your information safe from hackers, thieves, and nosy people.
Yeah, we use cookies. Not the chocolate chip kind - the digital ones.
Essential Cookies: These keep the site working properly. Like remembering you're logged into your appointment portal.
Analytics Cookies: Help us see how people use our site. We use basic analytics to know if folks are actually reading our service pages or just bouncing off immediately.
Preference Cookies: Remember your settings and choices so you don't have to enter everything again.
We don't use advertising cookies to follow you around the internet. You won't see our ads stalking you on Facebook because you visited our brake service page once.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the website might not work as smoothly. Most browsers let you control this stuff pretty easily.
You've got rights when it comes to your personal data. Here's what you can do:
Access: Ask us what information we have about you. We'll give you a copy, usually within 30 days.
Correction: If something's wrong (like we got your phone number mixed up), tell us and we'll fix it.
Deletion: Want us to delete your info? We can do that, but we might need to keep some stuff for legal reasons (like tax records - CRA says we gotta keep those for 7 years).
Portability: You can ask for your data in a format you can take elsewhere. We'll export your service history if you're moving to another shop.
Opt-Out: Don't want marketing emails? Click unsubscribe or tell us. Easy.
Complaints: If you think we're handling your data wrong, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any of these rights, just call us at (604) 555-7823 or email service@glaivornethern.info. We'll sort it out.
We don't keep your information forever. Here's our approach:
Active Customer Records: As long as you're bringing your vehicle to us, we keep your full service history. This helps us track patterns and give better service.
Inactive Customers: If you haven't been back in 7 years, we'll archive your records and eventually delete non-essential personal details. We might keep basic service records for reference.
Financial Records: CRA requires us to keep invoices and payment records for 7 years. That's tax law, not our choice.
Marketing Lists: If you unsubscribe, you're off the list immediately. We might keep a note that you opted out so we don't accidentally add you back.
Basically, we keep what we need for legitimate business and legal reasons, then get rid of it when we don't need it anymore.
Our services aren't directed at kids under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
If you're under 16 and somehow ended up on our site booking a diagnostic for your parent's Porsche, please have your parent or guardian contact us instead.
If we discover we've accidentally collected info from someone under 16, we'll delete it promptly. Let us know if you think this has happened.
We're based in Canada, and most of our data stays here. However, some of our service providers (like cloud hosting or email platforms) might have servers in other countries, including the United States.
When your data crosses borders, it's subject to that country's laws. For example, US law enforcement could potentially access data stored on US servers under certain circumstances.
We only work with reputable providers who have strong security measures. If you've got concerns about where your data lives, shoot us an email and we can chat about it.
Privacy laws change, our business evolves, and sometimes we realize we should explain things better. When we update this policy, we'll change the "Last Updated" date at the top.
For minor tweaks (like fixing a typo or clarifying wording), we'll just update the page. For major changes that affect how we use your data, we'll try to notify active customers by email or a notice on our website.
It's worth checking back once in a while to see if anything's changed. We promise to keep it readable - no 50-page legal documents full of jargon.
Got questions, concerns, or requests about your privacy? We're here to help. Don't hesitate to reach out.
We'll respond to privacy-related inquiries within 30 days, usually much sooner. If you're just swinging by the shop, feel free to chat with us in person too.
